Mobile Phone Policy
Mobile phones should not be seen or heard in school. If they are they will be confiscated and will not be returned for a full week. In order to ensure that a phone is not confiscated (potentially for a full week) please ensure that the phone is neither heard nor seen.
Whilst it may sometimes be necessary to make minor alterations to the school skirt, it is important that it should never be adjusted so that it is shorter than just above knee-length, or worn in a way that suggests this. If the school skirt is altered to the extent that it is too short, then it is no longer a Highgate Wood School skirt and cannot be worn as part of the uniform. We do not wish anyone to go to the expense of buying a school skirt only to render it inappropriate for school so please be careful about any tailoring that you may wish to carry out.
School shoes must be plain black leather or leather look. Patent leather is discouraged. We do allow a certain amount of discrete branding from shoe manufacturers, thus most Kickers, Timberland and Calderbrook shoes are acceptable, but the branding should not be too noticeable. Piping and stitching should not be visible and thus needs to be plain black in colour.
Please be aware that simply because a shoe shop declares a pair of shoes to be “school shoes” does not mean they are correct “Highgate Wood School shoes.” Shoes that look like trainers or plimsolls will be seen as that, and so will not be acceptable. We expect Highgate Wood School students to wear shoes that look formal and smart.
